Colorless transparent liquid. The melting point is - 77 ℃, the boiling point is 168.8 ℃, the relative density is 0.9320 (20/4 ℃), the refractive index is 1.3928, and the flash point is 46 ℃. It is miscible with ethanol and ether and insoluble in water. It is stable without water and does not decompose during distillation. It gradually decomposes into silicon oxide when encountering water.

Colorless liquid with slight odor; Steam pressure 0.13kPa/20 ℃; Flash point 46 ℃; Melting point - 77 ℃; Boiling point 165.5 ℃; Solubility: slightly soluble in water, soluble in ethanol and ether; Density: relative density (water=1) 0.93; Relative density (air=1) 7.22; Stability: stable; Hazard sign 7 (flammable liquid); Main applications: used as heat resistant coating, chemical resistant coating and organic synthesis intermediate.

Used for precision casting, as the binder of sand mold; The metal surface treated with ethyl silicate vapor can be anti-corrosion and waterproof. Ethyl silicate can be used to infiltrate silicon on metal surface, and optical glass can be treated to improve light transmittance; The extremely fine silica powder produced after complete hydrolysis can be used to manufacture fluorescent powder. Ethyl silicate is the raw material of organic silicone oil. Ethyl silicate can also be used to manufacture heat resistant and chemical resistant coatings. In Japan, 90% of ethyl silicate is used as the base material of anti-corrosion paint (zinc rich paint).
